Kate Scally Howell, soprano, is a prolific performer and teacher in the greater Tucson area.  She currently teaches voice and piano lessons from her home studio on the northwest side of town, and performs/music directs for the Arizona Rose Theatre Company.  She is happy to teach students of all ages and abilities, especially students with special needs.  She is a fully certified music teacher in the state of Arizona, and has an up-to-date fingerprint clearance card.  In the past she has music directed for ArtsExpress as part of their "Building careACTOR Program," where she had the chance to bring together deaf, blind, and typical students in a wonderful collaboration.  She teaches an after school musical theater program at the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and Blind, and has extensive experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired.  She is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, and completed her master’s degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Penn State University.  She has been a repertory member of The Arizona Rose Theater company for the past seven years, and is the artistic director of the Arizona Rose Opera Company.  Favorite roles include Gretel in Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel," Lucy in "The Telephone," Luisa in “The Fantasticks,” Rona Lisa Peretti in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," Marian in “Robin Hood the Musical,” Susanna in “The Marriage of Figaro,” and  Poppea in “The Coronation of Poppea.”
